In the pre-match between River and Boca, french singer songwriter shared a new song.

Titled “El Boca River,” the song is dedicated to soccer fans from Argentina, whose violent reputation forced the Southamerican Copa Libertadores final game to be played in Madrid, despite both teams being Argentine.

With a strong language of inclusion, Manu tweeted his song “To all my siblings from Argentina” and especially thanked Argentina for “so much groove and brotherhood”.

The song shared in a 45-second clip is characterized by Manu Chao’s signature in simplicity yet sharp message. The lyrics read “Look at it. Boca plays, River plays, China wins, Qatar wins.”

While the song is being played, the video has part of Martín Fierro, a famous poem written by Argentine José Hernandez in 1872:

“Let the siblings be united. That’s the first law. Have true unity, whatever time may be. Because if they fight among themselves, they are devoured by the outsider.”

Que l@s herman@s sean unid@s
ESA ES LA LEY PRIMERA
TENGAN UNIÓN VERDADERA
EN CUALQUIER TIEMPO QUE SEA
PORQUE SI ENTRE ELLOS SE PELEAN
LOS DEVORAN LOS DE AFUERA
